Description
An attractive late Victorian terracotta jug with original Clarke's Patent pewter hinged lid, dating from around 1880-1900. The jug is decorated with a colourful griffin frieze on a turquoise ground, framed by classical geometric borders.
The design has a strong Aesthetic Movement look and is in the style associated with Watcombe Pottery and Christopher Dresser influenced decoration of the late 19th century. A decorative and collectable Victorian piece, suitable for display in an antique ceramics, Aesthetic Movement, or Victorian pottery collection.
